The internet calls this a cool gel foam. There is no gel in it — the foam is made with open cells, so it releases your body heat rather than bottling it up. Laboratory-proven 30× more breathable than standard memory foam, so warmth doesn't pool beneath you when the van is sealed against the cold outside.

We make every mattress to the precise measurements you send us, and the cover then adds a few millimetres to the final size.
If your bed drops into a snug recess — as many VW and self-build conversions do — or you want slack for tucking bedding in, shave a little off your figures. It comes down to what you prefer.

- How do the cooling and responsive layers work together?
- The responsive layer supplies the spring back while the breathable layer handles the cooling — between them you get proper support without the heat that builds under standard memory foam.
- What does 30× breathability actually mean?
- In laboratory testing the breathable layer moved 30 times more air than traditional memory foam — that's what stops heat and moisture collecting inside a closed-up van.
- How long does a rolled mattress take to expand?
- Within an hour or two it is usually back to 95% of its shape and size, though it can sometimes take 24 hours or so to recover fully.
